Secrets OUT

The secret is out today. TODAY is the day. We are going to a No Doubt concert with special guests The Sounds and Paramore for John's birthday surprise. There I said it!! Ahhh!! Such relief. Much to everyone else's surprise, No Doubt is one of John's favorite bands. And much to MY surprise...he still hasn't figured it out (I'm writing this the day before). I am amazed really. Because we honestly have talked about No Doubt and Gwen Stefani a LOT recently completely randomly. So much so that it feels like he already knows. So much so that I almost said "I'm going to go pick out what I'm going to wear to the concert!" last night. But he doesn't know. And I thankfully held my tongue. I've lost count of how many times he has talked about No Doubt and I've had to just BITE my tongue off and nod innocently. He brought them up last weekend on our way back from the gun show. He brought them up yesterday. A song by either No Doubt or Gwen seems to come on every time we're in the car and my eyes bug and I just stare straight ahead, trying not to seem suspicious...even though I obviously am acting strange.
Our morning is not planned. But will consist of breakfast somewhere super cool. Not sure where yet. Then we will kill time around Charlotte until 4pm. At 4pm, we are both enjoying our first experience at The Melting Pot. So excite. Then come 7:30pm, we will be rocking out to No Doubt. The best thing about this concert is the fact that they haven't come out with a new album. They're playing all their OLD stuff. Which is what John LOVES. The other best thing about this concert...is with every ticket sold, they gave away a free download of their ENTIRE music library. No Doubt goodness. I am beside myself with excitement and canNOT wait to see his reaction when he opens his card and sees the tickets. :D
Today also marks 5 years to the day since I moved to the states from China. Sort of bittersweet. But what better way to celebrate my roots and my future all at once.
